 The founder of Miner Family Wines, one of the premier Napa Valley wineries, is no stranger to Savannah -- and we're happy to lure him away from one night of the Savannah Jazz Festival to meet you, pour his wines and explain how he crafts these delicious examples of Napa Valley fruit.

Saturday: Tasting the Stars of Renteria

 Salvador Renteria arrived at Sterling Vineyards in 1962 from Mexico working first as a field laborer, then a vineyard supervisor. After several years, Salvador left to oversee the formative vineyards of Beaulieu Vineyards, Clos Pegase, Cuvaison and Silverado. While working these vineyards, Salvador initiated novel vineyard experiments which earned the respect of famed vintners such as Andre Tchelistcheff, Rick Forman and John Thacher.
In 1987, Salvador started his own vineyard management company, Renteria Vineyard Management. At the time, it was one of the first Mexican owned vineyard management companies in Napa Valley and is now among the top three.
In 1993, Oscar Renteria, who had worked alongside his father for many years, assumed proprietorship of Renteria Vineyard Management. Working with select vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma's Russian River, Renteria grows world renowned grapes for clients that include William Selyem, Robert Mondavi Winery, Caymus, Rombauer and Duckhorn.
The line-up includes wines with grapes from familiar and prestigious provenance. We will be pouring:

Charity Tasting for EstinyDay
Thursday, Oct. 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m. $15 per person; $25 per couple. Includes appetizers from charity partners, Bonefish Grill and Gigi's Cupcakes.
Military veterans founded EstinyDay (Exceeding Standards Totally Involves Nurturing our Youth), a 501C(3) nonprofit  leadership mentoring organization. EstinyDay prides itself on military leadership fundamentals by incorporating real life events into training that allows students to discuss their views and formulate ways to overcome social obstacles. Its partnership with Savannah State University Navy ROTC program allows each student to be paired with a ROTC cadet which serves as a positive conduit for student seeking to reach their educational and career goals. EstinyDay supports community service locally, nationally and globally. Through partnership with Faces of America (AFS) intercultural exchange organization, EstinyDay provides the opportunity for students to travel aboard to perform community service projects. EstinyDay is a four-year program that students enter upon becoming freshmen in high school. All fund raising and donations go toward the tuition cost of traveling locally and abroad.
